You may have heard about the most recent security threat facing PCs with Apple’s QUICKTIME installed on it. The software has security problems, however Apple no longer supports it and no upgrades are available.
Here is an “easy to digest” article from the Sydney Morning Herald” warning about the problem.
An immediate removal of the software is recommended.
Endpoint security is at the forefront of our concerns at the moment, and keeping them updated is one of the big challenges. This was highlighted recently with various JAVA versions as well as Adobe Flash updates that were risky.
The current QUICKTIME issue prompted us to respond with a more comprehensive solution that the past case-by-case action.
For our supported server networks, we will now monitor your workstations for missing security patches and rectify them accordingly using a monitoring and installation package that can be centrally controlled from your server. We will include the charges in the annual cost of the TrendMicro Business Security Antivirus and Endpoint security, which will increase from $ 45.00 per workstation per year to $ 69.00 per workstation per year. This makes the cost per month per workstation $ 2.00.
For clients that don’t use TrendMicro or that have just renewed the basic service, we will charge the subscription separately (based on the number of workstations).
Some of our customers that already have complete workstation monitoring enabled, will not have to pay the extra charge as it is included in the service.

If we don’t hear from you, we will take the default option for your site and invoice accordingly. Please check your invoice and let us know within 14 days of receipt if there is any problem with the above default action which will rectify by a credit.
After the successful installation or the solution, we are then able to roll out any of these security updates to all your workstations on a regular or ad-hock basis. Regular charges will apply.
