Ralf has studied information technology in Wilhelmshaven, Germany in the mid ’70, just as computers were being developed. He developed Fortran and Basic applications for Gaming (!) and environmental engineering. After moving to Australia in 1982 working for Olympia Office Equipment and Bosch Television Technology, he soon saw the opportunity that PCs would bring to small businesses.
In 1990 he founded Friendlyware and has been managing director of the Friendlyware group ever since.
He is passionate about need-driven solutions. “A computer system has to serve the customer, not vs. vs.” With his approach to transform small and medium size businesses IT to proven, simple and manageable units he build a successful business and is held in great esteem amongst his peers.
As one of the first implementers of virtualisation in the small business community, the “cloud” technology of leaders like VMware and Microsoft were adapted. This was made affordable and available to a customer base that up to that time was heavily relying on running and maintaining several expensive servers – resulting in significant cost reductions amongst his customer base.
While not a passionate advocate for social media, he maintains a LinkedIn account ;-).
